What Is Traditional Mince Pie Filling Made From? 

Traditional mince pie filing is called "mincemeat", which, confusingly doesn't contain any meat! Mincemeat is a combination of dried fruits, peel and zest, with distilled spirits and spices. Spices used for the filling usually include nutmeg and cinnamon, which are ubiquitous with the festive season!

Are Mince Pies Vegetarian? 

Our traditional mince pies use vegetable suet and so are vegetarian. With only vegetable products within the mincemeat, surrounded by an all-butter pastry makes them a mouth-watering Christmas treat that are suitable for vegetarians.

Why Do We Eat Mince Pies At Christmas? 

Mince pies are a well-known traditional staple for Christmas, but why? These little festive treats have been around since the Middle Ages! Originally the mincemeat did contain meat and not the dried fruits of today, and the pastries were shaped as oblongs to represent the manger where Jesus slept. Traditionally, one mince pie should be eaten on each of the Twelve Days of Christmas, to bring good luck for the next twelve months.
